Brazilian beef exports hit record for the 2nd month in a row
F oreign sales of beef grew by more than 55%, while revenues increased by more than 91%.
Brazilian beef exports returned to record expressive numbers, after a record volume in January. In the last month, the volume shipped reached 159.1 thousand tons, an increase of 55.8% over the amount shipped in February 2021, according to data from the Department of Foreign Trade (Secex).
In terms of revenue, the result was even better. There were US$ 889.4 million collected in February this year, with an increase of 91.9% over the result in the same period of 2021.
“This is a great performance for the Brazilian market. Brazil continues to stand out and be very competitive, gaining markets such as Australia, the United States and Argentina. In addition, the presence of China makes a brutal difference in the volumes and revenue of exported beef”, points out Safras & Mercado analyst Fernando Iglesias.
According to the analyst, the trend is for beef shipments to remain heated for the next few months, with monthly sales exceeding the 140,000 ton mark, as has already happened earlier this year.
The Chinese market, in addition to moving beef exports, also motivates the amounts paid for ‘standard China’ beef in the Brazilian market. “If at the beginning of the year the amount paid for this unique animal was R$ 335 in São Paulo, now the value has jumped to R$ 360. This type of animal is in great demand in the market, which is very advantageous for the rancher ”.
“War and beef market
